China Mental Disorders Neuromodulation Alliance
The forum launched the China Mental Disorders Neuromodulation Alliance, a collaborative effort led by hospitals, research institutes, and businesses in the field of neuromodulation, guided by precise clinical needs and aiming for technological breakthroughs and clinical translation. This initiative signifies a convergence of the functional neurosurgery community in the field of mental illness, jointly promoting the prosperity and development of the neuromodulation field.
“In the past, researchers identified intervention targets by studying disease mechanisms and then explored methods for preventing and treating the disease. However, this approach doesn't work in the study of mental disorders, and may even require the reverse approach. Academician Poo Muming stated that studying the mechanisms of diseases, particularly mental disorders, presents the greatest challenge to understanding human brain function.
Experts also pointed out that in the study of brain science, mental disorders, and psychological issues, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of a standardized research system, integrate basic research with clinical practice, strengthen the implementation and translation of research results, and promote the establishment of a multidisciplinary network cooperation platform. This is precisely the significance of the establishment of the China Mental Disorders Neuromodulation Alliance.
