Ms. Tan, a 68-year-old patient from Zunyi, Guizhou, first developed tremors in both upper limbs 15 years ago without a clear cause and was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Ms. Tan was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease a few years after retiring. She has been suffering for 15 years and has been cared for by her husband. Initially, her condition was relatively mild, with only mild tremors and stiffness, which medication managed, allowing her to take care of herself without any problems. Over time, as the disease progressed, Ms. Tan's symptoms became increasingly severe, and medication became less effective. Even basic tasks like dressing and undressing required her husband's help. When the medication was effective, her movements were extremely severe, and she walked unsteadily. When the medication wore off, she was confined to the sofa due to stiffness. Her husband, who is two years older than Ms. Tan and will be 70 this year, not only takes care of her daily life during the day, but also frequently has to get up in the middle of the night to help her turn over, a task he now finds difficult. Her three children, all working away from home, have children of their own. However, their mother's long-standing illness prevented her from leaving them in the care of Ms. Tan. Ms. Tan often lamented that she felt deeply sorry for her long-term illness, feeling that she felt deeply sorry for her husband and children. Other elderly women tend to their husbands and help raise their grandchildren, while she can't even care for herself and burdens her family with care.

Three years ago, Ms. Tan had heard that surgery could treat Parkinson's disease, but it was only available in Beijing. For Ms. Tan, who lives in Zunyi, the cost of travel for the surgery and postoperative procedures was prohibitive. Furthermore, as a Parkinson's patient, travel was extremely inconvenient. Therefore, her family had long hoped that a hospital in Zunyi would offer DBS surgery.

In May of this year, upon hearing that the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical College offered DBS surgery, Ms. Tan immediately sought treatment. A joint consultation between several experts from the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical College and Dr. Sun from the Department of Functional Neurosurgery at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital determined that she met the criteria for DBS. Dr. Xie of the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical College introduced Ms. Tan to the "SceneRay Next-Generation Wireless Remote Brain Pacemaker." On May 15, 2017, Dr. Sun of the Functional Neurosurgery Department of Shanghai Ruijin Hospital and Dr. Xie of the Neurosurgery Department of Zunyi Medical College successfully performed DBS surgery on the patient. Ms. Tan became the first Parkinson's disease patient at the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical College to be implanted with the "Jingyu Next-Generation Wireless Remote Brain Pacemaker."

On June 9, Ms. Tan came to the hospital for her first programmed device activation. Dr. Xie set completely different stimulation parameters for her left and right brains based on the different symptoms she experienced in her left and right limbs: high-frequency stimulation on the left side to control tremors and other symptoms, while low-frequency stimulation on the right side controlled gait and balance.

After activation, Ms. Tan's symptoms were significantly controlled. Her stiffness was reduced, her tremors disappeared, and her balance and walking improved significantly compared to before the surgery. The improvement was so noticeable that Ms. Tan finally smiled again. Her husband and children were also amazed by the post-operative programming results. The whole family expressed their deep gratitude to Jingyu Medical for its high-quality products and excellent service. Today, Ms. Tan is able to mostly take care of herself, occasionally cleaning the house and cooking for her husband. She can finally enjoy her retirement with him.

The "SceneRay New Generation Wireless Remote Brain Pacemaker" is the only product on the market that supports differential frequency stimulation of left and right brain electrodes. It can set completely different frequencies, voltages, and pulse widths based on the severity of left and right side symptoms and midline symptoms. This solves the problem of being unable to treat both limb and midline symptoms simultaneously, improving treatment effectiveness and significantly reducing side effects.
